STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

It is my calling to share my knowledge in voice performance with the next generation of young singers through teaching. I am optimistic that I can share the knowledge from the past 28 years of my professional stage and teaching experiences. The experience came through with operas, oratorio, orchestras, new music, chamber music and early music, and teaching. It would be an honor to share my knowledge.

Singing is a primal and natural musical instrument. Often, singing stirs human emotion and heals the soul as a result. That is why singing attracts many young students when it comes to decision-making for their majors in college. Good singing requires good technique. The proper singing technique is crucial to vocalists and can be obtained with the help of a knowledgeable voice teacher. The vocal techniques include voice warm-ups, repertoires, good vocal hygiene, recognition of their vocal tessitura, nature of vocal production, the mechanics of good diction, breath support, body awareness, and mindful exercises.

The dramatic side of the singing reveals the expression of human emotion in life. I believe that by performing vocal music, students will have the chance to analyze each character and their relationships and will play the character on stage. It will allow the students to better act specific expressions for their performances.
